Megazip Adventure Park – Loads Of Challenging Fun

I love rides and even more so when it’s challenging; so I was extremely glad to extend the invitation from MegaZip Adventure Park to a group of  bloggers and go along for the ride(s)!

Huge crowd at the waiting platform for the Sentosa Express

We arrived at the MegaZip Adventure Park after alighting at Imbiah Station (Sentosa Express) and walking past Sentosa’s attractions like the Tiger Sky Tower, Butterfly Park & Insect Kingdom & Sentosa 4D Magix. I don’t think it was a long walk but then again, my sense of distance is rather warped because of my hobby. icon razz

Apart from the heat, the weather was beach-perfect conditions; sunny with gusty winds to give moments of relief.

The staff at the MegaZip Adventure Park were a bunch of extremely friendly and upbeat people. Their smiles and positivity proved to be important as many participants needed much encouragement through the various obstacles the park has to offer.

First up – ClimbMax!

“ClimbMax is Singapore’s premiere high ropes adventure course. 15 metre high Eucalyptus trees create a formidable course in the jungle hilltops of Sentosa.
3 LEVELS, 40 FOOT HIGH, THE ULTIMATE PHYSICAL CHALLENGE
The views are breathtaking, the thrills are endless and the well-drilled staff ensure that the experience is safe, efficient and highly addictive.”

This little girl who is barely taller than my waist went for ClimbMax Level 3!

I had to take a long breather after that particular stage in ClimbMax. It was unanimously voted as the toughest one.

ClimbMax Level 3 - Final stage; least effort with a dash of faith

Sentosa Megazip Adventure Park krisandro sweat 490x326

I was drenched in sweat after completing ClimbMax Level 3. It was tough!

The ClimbMax was the toughest attraction of the MegaZip Adventure Park I tried that day. We could feel the ropes sway to the strong winds and even the structures seem to sway a little. It’s definitely still all in the mind, as we were all safely harnessed in the event of a misstep. The staff were very attentive and shouted out tips and words of encouragement if anyone got stuck at a certain obstacle. We were also witnesses to a real rescue that showcased how efficiently they can get to someone who got stuck or needed help.

There are 3 levels of difficulty in terms of height in total with slight variations to the obstacles. Definitely try out level 3 if you are game. The view is beautiful up there!

Next up – NorthFace!

Test yourself on this monster of a climbing wall! The 16 metre wall is one of the highest in Singapore, with three different routes to the top. Under the supervision of our climbing instructors you will be safely belayed all the way to the top. Find your own route, reach the summit, and then lean back, relax, and abseil back down the North Face.

Only the two ladies in the picture above tried out the NorthFace as we were all spent from the ClimbMax. It’s something I’ll definitely go for on my next visit.

Next up – ParaJump!

At the ParaJump leap point, the views are amazing. Ocean, jungle, palms swaying in the breeze, white sand beaches… and a 50 foot drop to the family below!
A custom made safety wire and harness developed in the UK and controlled with clockwork efficiency by our experienced staff is a first for Singapore and allows you to replicate a freefall parachute jump – without the plane ride!

Finale – MegaZip!

Asias most extreme zip line takes adrenaline junkies from the jungle canopy of Imbiah Hill to the white sands of Fox Finish Point.
75 METRES HIGH, 450 METRES LONG AT HEART POUNDING SPEEDS OF 50KMPH
Singapores first 3 wire zip tests friendships as you race your pals or parents to the finish line. Exhilarating, breathtaking, fast and furious… if you are going to go radical for a day, this is the way to do it.

I was the last to go down on the MegaZip and I was pointing at my crotch. The discomfort to my family jewels was well worth the awesome 450-metre ride down!

After completing the ClimbMax, ParaJump & NorthFace, the final ride is a cool zip line down Imbiah Hill and across the waters of Sentosa! The view is amazing and would be even cooler if I wasn’t uncontrollably swung around to have my back face the front most of the time. My tip for you is to find someone to go down in tandem if your combined weight does not exceed 140kg. You’ll definitely enjoy the ride more going down as fast as you possibly can!

I had so much fun that I am already trying to find a date to go back with KuKuNehNeh and more friends!

Our 50% Discounted Stay At Rasa Sentosa Resort

rasa sentosa resort discount 224x300

A colleague of KuKuNehNeh (KKNN) forwarded her an email with the image above informing her of Rasa Sentosa Resort’s half price promotion and she immediately pounced on the offer and asked me to do the necessary bookings. Few women can resist things sold at half price. Not that I am complaining as she offered to pay for the stay.

It’s my 1st time staying at Rasa Sentosa Resort and KKNN’s 2nd and we chose the Panoramic Room which was priced at $227.50 after 50% discount.

The view is quite lovely from the balcony I must say and the window that opens to the tub is quite cool but that is probably just a couple of the good things I have to say about Rasa Sentosa Resort.

I entered the room and just did a rough inspection just to make sure that everything is in order and part of that routine is to check under the bed for dead bodies. And though I didn’t find any, there was an empty bottle of the hotel’s complimentary water bottle left under the bed.

rasa sentosa resort bottle under bed 300x225

Not like the water bottle is chucked deep under the bed but it was near the edge and the attendant who cleaned the room prior to our check-in completely missed it.

And then a question comes up. Which 4-5 star hotel doesn’t have LCD TVs these days? I brought my HP Mini laptop along hoping to plug it in to an LCD TV to spend some of our time watching movies but I end up facing a stone age CRT TV with the wrong connectivity cables.

Hoping to better our stay at Rasa Sentosa Resort, we checked out the highest rated restaurant amongst the 2 that were listed down for the 50% promotion which was Barnacles Restaurant for dinner. We ended up heading for the other restaurant (which was almost fully booked by the way) because it was fully booked till 9.30pm. Rasa Sentosa Resort should have informed us of the popularity of the restaurants so that we could have made plans. It wouldn’t hurt to tell me during my telephone booking or included as a few lines of text in the email confirmation.

Dinner was settled at Silver Shell Cafe with a seafood buffet.

Nothing tasted awful but in fact, nothing tasted good as well. It’s one of those meals that you won’t remember eating after a few days.

And the worse thing about the whole stay? I was almost overcharged by at least $70 by Rasa Sentosa Resort. The bill looked suspiciously high even after a 50% discount for both the room and the buffet dinner and after checking it further, I realized that Silver Shell Cafe overcharged me by twice the amount I was supposed to pay. It was lucky that I kept the receipt from Silver Shell and checked the final bill before I left the resort.

The stay at Sentosa Resort and Spa was SO MUCH better. Weird thing is that KKNN and I still enjoyed our stay very much despite all the screw ups. Having each other is all that matters.

On that note, I’ll convince her that I’ll pay for the next weekend escapade at a cheap hotel. WAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

KuKuNehNeh’s Birthday at the Sentosa Resort & Spa

KuKuNehNeh had her birthday on the 10th of April which happened to fall on Good Friday and she had no idea of what was in store for her.

The plan was to have this blog post to go live at 12 midnight on her birthday to tell her that I am bring her to a stay at Sentosa Resort & Spa but she promptly fell asleep 30 minutes before her birthday. So much for plans. WAHAHAHAHAAA!

We were greeted by the very friendly staff at the Sentosa Resort & Spa and we brought to our deluxe room.

Sexy eh? Wahahahaha!

We headed for the beach station for the Luge but the weather didn’t make any exceptions for us on her birthday and it rained not long after we had a quick lunch of delicious but pricey 9″ hotdogs and crispy fries at a beach bar near the beach station. Thinking that the Luge isn’t a very good choice right after the rain, we made plans for the Segway Eco Ride + Fun Ride and it was so much fun!

Segways by the beach!

The Segway is tons of fun! It’s pretty easy to get the hang of using the Segway and not before long, we were zipping by the crowds at Sentosa and getting quite a lot of attention as we manoeuvre across pathways, roads and sand. KuKuNehNeh was a little stiff at 1st but she thoroughly enjoyed the ride. Just a tip for those who intend to try the Segway out at Sentosa. Don’t just pay for the Fun Ride. It’s a good course for beginners to try out the Segway but it’s quite boring compared to the Eco Ride where you will get to go to cruise on the Segway to Tanjong Beach or Siloso Beach with one of their friendly staffs. Do ask the staff to unlock the speed restriction when you are comfortable as the Segway can go up to 20km/hr and it makes it even more exciting.

The day whizzed by very quickly and we retreated back to our room in the evening but I still had one more surprise left for her.

The doorbell rang unexpectedly at 10pm as I actually left prior instructions for champagne and a cake to be brought up and she was absolutely caught unaware. Nothing beats seeing the surprised look on her face as she is the kind who digs information out you if she ever smelt a surprise coming.

She was absolutely hilarious after downing a couple of glasses of champagne as I caught her dozing off a few times while we were watching a movie; at one time with a half filled champagne glass held in her hands.

I hope that she enjoyed her 25th Birthday as much as I enjoyed planning for it!

Why I Shouldn’t Order Food When Dazed…

[ad]

I was at Sentosa today with Ruifang’s family today. Unfortunately, there is no pics of her or me in a bikini. I know you guys are dying to see me in one. “See liao will puke blood and die

After spending half a day in the sweltering sun, my brain gets wonky and such. If you are wondering why do I need to explain for being dazed. Well…….

I was at a Halal Beef noodle store, operated by Muslims wearing Tudongs.

Remember these key words, Halal, Beef, Muslim and Tudong.

Ruifang: “Auntie! Two beef kway teow soups”

Malay Auntie: “Okay! Eating here?”

Me: “Yes!”

(After a while, she grabs a piece of meat with a tweezer and shows it to me.)

Auntie: “Want stomach?”

Me: “Pig stomach?”

.

RIGHT AFTER I said that, my mind realized that this is a HALAL store, they serve BEEF and I can SEE MUSLIMS wearing TUDONGS cooking the food.

Paiseh to the MAX icon redface

What is wrong with me? All the sun’s fault!
