Learning The Death of Robert Jordan a Year Too Late

Robert Jordan‘s “The Wheel of Time” is my favourite fictional book series of all time. Hell, it may be even my favourite book series of all time.

Book #1 – “The Eye of The World”

I remember first learning of him in my secondary school days through a friend called Deming and it was the very first book in the series called “The Eye of The World”. Robert Jordan can be regarded by some as being very long winded but to me and millions of others, his mastery in story telling brings the pages to life. Almost every character and scene is so vividly described that it’s hard to not immense oneself in the world of the “The Wheel of Time”. I found it hard to put down the book every time I pick it up to read and get lost in the world that Robert Jordan created.

The only reason why I stopped reading “The Wheel of Time” was when I caught up to book #8 (The Path of Daggers) and waiting for Robert to publish a book that is as thick as the length of an adult’s palm means having to wait years for a new one to be released. Soon, the urge to read fades away and I found myself straying away from books for a decade and got myself hooked to the computer and pR0n.

Okay fine, there was another reason why I stopped reading. I owed the National Library some fines that I refused to pay and they refused to let me borrow books. WAHAHAHHAHAHAA!!!

So during my last reservist when I was unable to bring my usual forms of entertainment for my trips to camp, I decided to pay the National Library a visit and was prepared to pay the fine that I owed for a decade and more. Miraculously, the National Library Board dismissed the fine! (I am such a bloody cheapskate..)

No prizes for guessing that I naturally went for “The Wheel of Time”. 2 weeks after my reservist and I am still reading the book series and only upon my research online did I find out that Robert Jordan died of a heart problem on September 16, 2007 during the time when he was working on the #12 and final book for “The Wheel of Time”. I was so shocked on learning the fact that he died at a relatively young age of 58 but I wasn’t surprised that he died before finishing the book series as I fondly remembered that he said,

“(He will write) …..until they nail shut his coffin.”

Such words from the man whom I greatly admire but failed to mourn for a year ago when his death happened. Some good news for his fans is that Robert Jordan knew his death was inevitable and left notes on how he wants the book series to end. An author named Brandon Sanderson finish the series on behalf of the great Robert Jordan.

So I await with great anticipation for Fall 2009 for book #12 to conclude one of the best fantasy novels ever to grace this planet.

Robert Jordan Sir, Thank you.

What Will You Do If The National Library Chains Up Your Bicycle?

[ad]

According to the Newpaper, a man parked his bicycle outside the National Library on Saturday despite repeated warnings to not do so. Despite having wide pathways, the library personnel insisted that the bicycle poses as a hazard and told the man to park the bicycle at the designated bicycle bay on another street. The man known as Mr Bee Hee Heng ignored their warnings and left his bicycle at the pathway and returned 3 hours later to only find his bicycle chained up by the library personnel.

What would you have done at this point?

Mr Bee did what most would not do. Chain his bicycle? He chain up the National Library lor.

WAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!!

A fine example of tit-for-tat. He chained only one entrance of the National Library and only removed it after the police have arrived. It is not known what punishment he got from this incident, but despite being wrong in the 1st place, I have to the SALUTE DA-MAN! Mr Bee Hee Heng, if you are reading this, you are my idol. You got BALLS!

But, please don’t pass me the $1000 fine you are potentially getting.

Ladies and Gentlemen! Learn from him!

If someone irritates you, irritate them back!

If someone scolds you, scold them back!

If someone slaps you, slap them back!

If someone gropes your butt, grope them back!

Oh wait…. that might not work……
