Another Christmas, Another Birthday, Another Year…

It’s only two days away from Christmas, which also happens to be my birthday! Yes, I am a Christmas baby and Christmas was great until people around me realize that they should give me one birthday-cum-Christmas present instead of two separate gifts. One good thing that is still prevalent through these years is that it is so easy to remember my birthday; Kris is born on Christmas day! How hard is that? If you don’t remember my birthday, SHAME ON YOU!!! Go repent and get me a big gift! (Or make it two… icon razz )

As much as I would like to believe that I am 18 years of age, I am actually turning 27 on Christmas and that thought is quite scary! I am actually inching towards the big 30 soon! And I can actually feel the age catching up on me; friends of the same age/batch getting married, more wrinkles, deteriorating stamina and most of all, the increasing hunger for a superpower to turn back time. That and X-ray vision. Heheheheheheheeee. icon mrgreen

Despite the fallbacks that come of age, I think I am still happy with the past year. I made a lot of friends through the revival of blogging in February and through channels and platforms like wholivesnearyou.com, ping.sg, twitter, yebber, facebook & plurk. Being so active in the social media scene also gave me opportunities to attend various events that added colors to an otherwise mundane life. Most of all, thanks to Ruifang aka KuKuNehNeh aka KKNN aka the gf, for contributing the most joy for the past year.

Merry KRISmas and a Happy New Year everyone!

Updates At krisandro.com

The previous theme of my blog had many people saying that it was too gay-ish for me even though I really liked the design that was adapted from one of Cimoetz’s designs.

old krisandro theme

Very GAY MEH????

One other problem I had with the old theme was that it loads pretty slow and so I went to the wordpress theme directory and fell in love with the current theme that you are seeing now. My feel for this theme after tweaking it here and there is that it is much neater than the previous theme with only one sidebar. The colours are also more erm…. *ahem*… manly.

And since the ‘floating’ head of krisandro.com is such an *cough* iconic thing, I have since placed it up where my blog header is.

A couple have complained that it is less ‘read-friendly’ though, and I have made the text in the body darker for better contrast. Many have also complained that the load times are still slow despite it being faster and I don’t think I can do more for that problem apart from changing to a local host.

Any other feedback on the new theme? I would love to hear from you!

Oh! And do join krisandro’s facebook fan page to show your support! I haven’t found a better use for the fan page yet and so for now, it’s all for my ego’s sake.

Challenging The Singapore Marathon

I have been wanting to take part in a full marathon since 2003-2004 and if I wrote it on a piece of paper as a thing-to-do, the paper will probably be yellow with the faded words barely recognizable.

In order to motivate myself, I gathered people over at plurk to find people who will be crazy enough to train for the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2009. Besides the advantage of staying fit while training for such a gruelling run, I decided that the group should adopt a charity as well to give a greater cause. So the group “FortyTwoPointOneNineFive” was formed.

“We are a group of people who wants to complete a full marathon (42.195 km) at least once in our lives. Instead of procrastinating like we have always been doing, we decided to form a running group to challenge the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2009!

We will most likely have a group effort to raise funds for charity as well to make this even more meaningful. Stayed tuned for more info!

Join us as we push each other to train for the gruelling run!”

Since most of us are very active online, I think it will be quite interesting to find ways to raise money and awareness for the adopted charity. If you are interested in joining us to train for the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2009, do join us on facebook and also on our group at mapmyrun.com (A great way to log your runs and monitor your progress!) Since we live all over the island, we are using mapmyrun to log and monitor each other and will only meet for runs bi-weekly or monthly.

As you can see, we haven't really started and I am 2nd on the list with only 2.36km clocked. WAHAHAHAHA!

Finding Long Lost Friends Using Facebook

Maybe someone has already successfully did what I am trying to achieve here and probably has a better way to do it but I am trying this all the same! I am looking for my primary school friends! I have lost contact with so many of them and it will be great if I can get all, if not most of them for a gathering soon. Not many friends have seen one another pee and poop in their pants and that sort of stuffs one would do when you are 7-12 years of age and primary school friends are one of those bunch.

I have posted my Primary 6 class photo on Facebook and the idea is to tag as many as I can find and hoping that those whom I tagged have others on their Facebook list and tags them. This will continue till everyone is tagged in the picture and soon, I WILL CONQUER THE WORLD!!!!!

If you happen to be reading this and realize that you are my classmate from Shuqun Primary School, Class of 1993, add me on facebook and head down to the above album on facebook to tag yourself!

For the rest of the readers who is seeing this picture for the first time, guess which kid am I?

Here is a recent picture of me to help you locate me!
