A Little Disappointed About Omy Blog Awards…

A week back, I saw that bloggers like Ah Wei and Miss Loi recieved calls from omy.sg, telling them of their placement as a finalist in the S’pore Blog Awards. At the back of my mind, I was hoping that they will call me soon but…

DUNCH HAVE LEH!!!

Days passed and Monday came but still no call. So it wasn’t any surprise when I went to the site to only find that I was not a finalist in the ‘Most Entertaining Blog‘ category.

.

I know some will think that I am a pompous fellow and say,

“You think you blog very well meh?”

.

I actually thought that I was deserving to be at least in the top 10 to garner some votes. Note ‘THOUGHT’ is in PAST TENSE. After spending some time thinking about it, I think every blog that omy has chosen should be deserving to be in the finalist. Blogs are like books or movies. Taste in them will vary from person to person and I guess the panel at omy didn’t think too much of mine.

Oh well, I shall move on…

… and conveniently remove the omy Banner from my sidebar.

WAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAAHHA!!

.

Do vote for Sheylara and Rinaz in the category! I think they are deserving!!!

[Note: Everyone please help me fill in the Nuffnang poll on the right side so that I can understand you guys better!]

The Problem I Have As a Blogger is…

I once said that carelessness is one of the biggest drawbacks of me as a person as I am one who can sometimes be so deep in thought that without realizing it, I have already crossed the road. Countless number of times when this happens and I will suddenly be aware of my body and go,

“Eh?!?!?! I DON’T REMEMBER CROSSING THE ROAD!!!”

It’s sometimes pretty scary to think that I am on ‘auto-mode’ when doing things like crossing the road but it’s a good skill to have provided that it is fail safe. I don’t want to be roadkill.

One of the biggest problems I have as a blogger would be my memory. I have such bad memory. Some who know me personally might say otherwise but I think I have ’selective memory’. My brain registers infomation ‘permanently’ on certain subjects and the rest goes into my ‘RAM’ which gets cleared every 3 seconds or so. For example, if it’s the first time I meet you and you tell me your name, I will forget almost instantanously. I will only remember the conversation and especially if you tell me interesting things like how you like to dig your nose… with your thumb.

I am not implying that anybody I’ve met at the HP TouchSmart PC Event that I went to yesterday likes to dig their nose with their thumb. But if it JUST SO HAPPENS that I met you yesterday and you REALLY like to use your thumb. Well… erm… do reconsider your other options.

While I am on that anyway, I will like to extend my gratitude to Waggener Edstrom for organizing and Daryl a.k.a UniqueFrequency for inviting me to the event.

The TouchSmart PC looks great and I shall have another entry of it when I find more time. It’s great to also meet up with more bloggers at the event like…

er….

…like…

YOU SEE LAR!

I DON’T REMEMBER THE NAMES OF EVERYONE I MET!!!

.

I do remember the conversations that I had with each of you guys though. I think I got to either improve my memory or make it a habit to jot down everything I want to remember. If I jotted down stuffs yesterday, some of the things I would have written down were…

  1. I took a picture with Jacelyn a.k.a daintyflair and apparently, I look humsup (lecherous). I never looked at the picture properly but maybe I was drooling or something.
  2. Claudia has a humsup twit for the HP TouchSmart PC.
  3. Juzzywuzzy has his humsup goatee back.
  4. Hillary couldn’t recognize who I was and probably thought I was a humsup trying to pick her up.
  5. I helped Daphne take a picture with two other ladies and the camera auto-focused on her left boob. The camera was humsup. If the picture turned out shaky, I am sorry. I was trying to contain my laughter.

WAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAAHA!!!

My 100th Wordpress Post and I Owe it All to YOU!

The very first popular blog that I came across was Xiaxue’s back in the days when she was funnier and less commercialized(IMHO). Blogs at that time were a form of entertainment and a way to keep myself updated on my friends lives. Having a steady income back in 2005, I got a webhost and the URL ‘www.krisandro.com’ without going through what most bloggers go through; Having a free blogging platform like blogspot/wordpress/xanga and then realizing later that they want a self hosted blog.

It wasn’t my intentions to use it as a blog in the 1st place but I eventually hopped onto the bandwagon and started to write. I used dreamweaver/frontpage to design and code my blog and it wasn’t powered by any blogging platform. I don’t have any friends who had a self hosted blog during those times, and without the knowledge of blogging platforms for self-hosted blogs, you can imagine how stupid it was for the period between March 2005 to Feb 2008. I was basically coding everything manually like my archives.

LOL

My traffic back then was mostly made up of my ‘offline’ friends and colleagues and then I start to hear good comments that I was ‘funny’. I then started to write a little more frequently and got ‘tomorrow-ed’ a couple of times. Unfortunately, after migrating to wordpress, you guys won’t be able to see the old entries that I had before Feb 2008.

I had a very long blogging hiatus for a period of almost 6 months because of personal reasons and there are 3 reasons that made me come back to blogging in February this year.

#1 – Friends

KuKuNehNeh knew me better through my old blog archives and after we got together, she kept badgering me to revive my blog. Friends like DX, Ade and my WLNY pals also popped by every once in a while through my shoutbox and say things like…

“YOUR BLOG IS DEAD!!!”
*REMOVE COBWEBS*
“KRISANDO!!! COME BACK! I LOVEEEEEEEEE YOU!!!

Okay, it’s obvious that I made the last one up but the point is, these people gave me the confidence that they would like me to write again.
.

#2 – Wordpress

wordpress

Seriously. Without wordpress, there is no reason for me to update my blog as often as I can now. Everything is great about the platform to the point that I only need to concentrate mostly on content, content and content. Well, in krisandro’s blog, it’s actually rubbish, rubbish and rubbish. But I know you guys like rubbish and rubbish is gonna stay!
.

#3 – Ping.sg

stats
I don’t think the traffic for June can match the traffic of May though

Without Ping.sg, my blog’s growth would not have been what it is now. Nice folks do submit my works to tomorrow.sg every now and then but it is Ping.sg that gives me constant traffic. It’s also the folks at Ping who are very supportive of my blogging style and they make up a majority of the ones who leave comments whenever I post something up and it feels bloody nice to have people leave comments.
.

This is my 100th wordpress post, and I’ll dedicate this to the 3 reasons I mentioned and all my supporters, including those who are SILENT READERS. You know who you are.. (Cuz nobody else knows who you are…)

“Say Hello to Singapore’s Top Bloggers!!!”

First of all, many thanks to Sabrina & Gavin for inviting me to the “Exclusive Yahoo! & LG Electronics Blogger’s Event” at Expo which happened on Wednesday. It is a first invite to an ‘exclusive blogger’ thingy for me and I really didn’t know what to expect.

I reach there right on time to only find myself waiting for almost half an hour without a familiar face in sight at 7-11. It turned out that Sabrina, Sheylara & Priss were waiting at the OTHER 7-11. We were soon joined by Yanjun and we were ushered down to the entrance of the exhibition to get our lanyards.

VIP HOKAYS! DUNCH PWAY PWAY!

It looks all nice but Sheylara quickly pointed out to me that…..

WAH LAU! SPELL WRONGLY DEY!

*Facepalm*

.

We were led to the LG booth and up to a platform when I saw familiar faces like Leonard and Nadnut and DK later. Nadnut was kind enough to introduce me to the rest of the other bloggers but I don’t really recognize most of them and they probably didn’t recognize me as well, so it’s okay.

WAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAAA!!!

Oh, before I continue, this post is gonna be picture free as I only had my Nokia N95 with me and despite my love for the phone, it’s not going to have good pictures in such light conditions and so I didn’t take any pictures at all.

We were brought around the LG booth by this pretty LG PR manager. I think it could be her first time dealing with local bloggers and when she picked up the new LG phone to talk about it, a SWARM of bloggers whipped out their cameras and surrounded her while flashing the sight out of her. She quickly recovered her composure and talked about the phone. Problem was, her soft voice was drowned out and my interest in the product drowned away as well.

All I can say is that it was a visually appealing phone. I will only talk about it in depth if I can get my hands on one.

…..

(Awkward silence)

Okay. Next, we were led to an area where a humorous MC took the stage and said that a group of Korean dancers were going to perform for the crowd. At one point, he said,

“Hello everyone! Today we have Singapore’s Top Bloggers joining us today!”

I was completely shocked at this point. The MC then looked over our side and raised his voice a little.

Singapore’s TOP BLOGGERS! Raise your hands!”

I think I subconsciously shuffled my feet AWAY from the group of bloggers as the rest of the crowd looked over at our group. The MC realized the lack of enthusiasm from the bloggers and the crowd and still managed to get the crowd to clap.

Not to put any of the bloggers there down, especially those who have much higher traffic than mine but…. “TOP BLOGGERS?”

WAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

If the word ‘relatively’ is put in front. Then I think it’s true mostly. Maybe do a ‘mumble’ to make it nicer lar.

“Hello everyone! Today we have Singapore’s relatively Top Bloggers joining us today!”

The dance item was quite nice actually, so credits to LG for putting the show up.

.

The next booth that we went to was more exciting for me. The Yahoo! booth. Adam Taggart who is Yahoo’s Senior Director for Product Marketing greeted us warmly and he totally captivated my attention with the way he presented himself and I can feel his excitement for the Yahoo Mobile Apps that he showed us. It’s quite a couple of products to talk about and you can visit Yahoo! Mobile’s site here to find out more. I’ve already downloaded one of the applications to my phone to test it out.

Will blog about it soon once I get familiar with the product!

OH! And Sabrina said that MrBrown and Dawn Yang came down as well. ARGH! WANTED TO MEET DAWN YANG MRBROWN SO MUCH! I AM TOTALLY INTO HER HIM. I HAD TO LEAVE EARLY! WHAT A BLOODY WASTE!!!

Meanwhile, you guys can surf to the following blogs for the coverage of the event and products and hopefully find pictures you like.

Leonard’s coverage.

Sheylara’s coverage.

Krisandro Has A Blogger Namecard!

I’ve been wanting to design and print a blogger namecard ever since I saw a whole SLEW of bloggers start to print their namecards like Claudia, Nadnut, Jayden and Rinaz who got their lovely cards printed at Tommy Print.

So, after so long, I decided to run through some ideas through my head and this is my namecard!

The only problem is that it is not PRINTED yet and I have a few blogger events to go to! And I think this design is only done over a couple of hours and I need more time to refine it. So no choice lar. Have to settle with this…
