Anyway, we did our research before buying and actually, lovebirds need not be in a pair. In fact, if one rears only one lovebird, they will be a tighter bond between the human and the bird. But of course, one must spend more time with the lovebird as they are very social creatures and will feel lonely/bored like you said. So sorry to hear about your lovebird.
